Single-use plastics: new rules for reporting on the reduction of single-use plastic food containers adopted

The Commission has adopted new rules specifying how EU Member States must calculate and report on the reduction in their consumption of single-use plastic food containers and beverage cups under the Single-use Plastics Directive. This will support the implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/904, which requires Member States to report each year data to the Commission on single-use plastic products which have been placed on the market and to provide information on the measures taken in order to reduce the consumption of such products. This Act will contribute to reducing the consumption and littering of plastic food containers and beverage cups in the EU. The first reporting period is the year 2022.
